Migration, Slavery, & the British Empire

This topic is divided into two sections: Internal Migration and External Migration. Internal Migration addresses the problem of resettlement within England and is subdivided into two time periods. External Migration concentrates on English emigrants to the United States and Colonial America. The results are arranged under three time periods. The intent is not to present an exhaustive listing of sources, but rather to provide a select listing of the most important sources and the order in which they should be searched to best resolve problems within each time period. There is some overlapping of sources between time periods as is indicated by the time coverage of each source.
