Hertford (HERTS)

Jurisdictions

  1. Many of the parishes in the western two-thirds of the county belonged to the Archdeaconry of Huntingdon (A) (within the Consistory of Lincoln). See Huntingdon and Lincoln for more details.
  2. Much of the eastern third of the county was within the Archdeaconry of Middlesex (B) (see the page for Middlesex for the details).
  3. Parishes in the southwest of the county belonged to the Archdeaconry of St. Alban's (C). In addition, three eastern parishes belonged to the Peculiar of the Dean and Chapter of St. Paul's (D) and five eastern parishes belonged to the Commissary of London (E).
